At the recently discovered site of Shayyeh in the Zarqa valley, Jordan, two finely retouched knives on tabular flint were found. The site is clearly dated to the Yarmoukian period (Pottery Neolithic, 8th millennium B.P.). These knives have strict parallels in their general shape with those found at other sites of the same period, both east and west of the Jordan river, but their surface polishing technique was previously unknown. One of them, in particular, is polished on both faces, using a technique of regular, parallel movements. These artifacts are presented here in the context of the main Yarmoukian assemblages of the Southern Levant.

Présentation de deux pièces retouchées obtenues sur plaquette de silex polie provenant du gisement de Shayyeh découvert récemment dans la vallée du Zarqa en Jordanie. Ce site date incontestablement du Yarmoukien. Les pièces, dont le processus de polissage était jusqu'alors inconnu, ont de grandes ressemblances morphologiques avec d'autres pièces provenant de sites de la même période.
