The important. The article is a phenomenal-linguistic analysis of the important and of all that matters in life. Everyday language allows to review the different vital situations in which the important intervenes. These situations refer to human life and especially to its mortal character; importance affirms itself particularly with regard to death. The author analyses also the « no matter what » within the framework of human liberty. There follow short analyses of life in slow motion and of the foreshadowed existentialism evoked by the concept « come into the world», with the anthropological correlations (relations with the surrounding world) implied in this concept.

L'article est une analyse phénoméno-linguistique de l'important et de ce qui importe dans la vie. Le langage courant permet de passer en revue les diverses situations vitales dans lesquelles intervient l'important. Ces situations se réfèrent à la vie humaine et avant tout à son caractère mortel ; l'importance s'affirme particulièrement au regard de la mort. L'A. analyse également le « n'importe quoi » dans le cadre de la liberté humaine. Suivent de brèves analyses de la vie au ralenti et de l'existentialisme avant la lettre évoqué par le concept de « venue au monde» avec les corrélations anthropologiques (rapports avec le monde ambiant) impliquées par ce concept.
