The Philosophy of Science of Jacques Maritain. Taking up anew the division of theoretical knowledge into physics, mathematics and metaphysics (the three orders of abstraction in the area of theory), Maritain endeavours to restore the concept of philosophy of nature by showing that in the first order of abstraction, there is room for more than one approach to the physical world. He indicates the manner in which this possibility is present in the Thomist tradition. — This article is followed by a text in which Paul Vignaux recalls some memories of Y. R. Simon (pp. 237-239).

Reprenant la division du savoir théorique en physique, mathématiques et métaphysique (les trois ordres d'abstraction théorique), Maritain s'est efforcé de restaurer le concept de philosophie de la nature en montrant que dans le premier ordre d'abstraction, il y a place pour plus d'une approche du monde physique.
