Das internationale und interdisziplinäre Projekt CRAFTS ,,Strukturen, ökonomische Rolle und soziale Positionierung des Handwerks in römischer Zeit in Italien und den westlichen Provinzen" hat zum Ziel, mit einem einheitlichen methodologischen Ansatz, fur diese Regionen eine möglichst umfassende Dokumentation über den Handwerker, seinen sozialen Status, die Organisation der handwerklichen Produktion, die Produktionsstrukturen und der Verbreitung der hergestellten Produkte zusammen zu stellen. Dieser Auf satz präsentiert unser Wissen über die verschiedenen handwerklichen, nichts-alimentaren Produktionen, die im ländlichen Milieu im Rahmen der römischen Provinz der Gallia Belgica beobachtet werden können (Schritte der Arbeitsteilungskette, Produktionsstrukturen, Einrichtungen, Verbindungen mit anderen ökonomischen Aktivitäten des ländlichen Raums.

The purpose of the international, interdisciplinary project CRAFTS (structures, economic function and social position of craft industry in Roman times in Italy and the western provinces) is to gather as much evidence as possible on craftsmen, their social status, the organization of craft production, the structures of production and distribution of manufactured goods, using a homogeneous methodological approach. This article presents results on various nonfood craft productions in a rural environment within the Roman provinces of Gaul Belgica (stages of the chaîne opératoire, structures of production, sites, links with other economic activities in the rural environment)

Le projet international et interdisciplinaire CRAFTS, Structures, rôle économique et position sociale de l'artisanat à l'époque romaine en Italie et dans les provinces occidentales a pour but de réunir pour ces régions une documentation aussi complète que possible sur l'artisan, son statut social, l'organisation de la production artisanale, les structures de production et la diffusion des produits manufacturés, ceci suivant une démarche méthodologique homogène. Cet article présente nos connaissances sur les différentes productions artisanales non-alimentaires observables en milieu rural dans le cadre de la province romaine de Gaule Belgique (étape de la chaîne opératoire, structures de production, implantations, liens avec d'autres activités économiques du milieu rural).
