Monchy-Lagache (Somme). Entre habitat et champs : un espace dédié au stockage et aux morts

Bei Präventivgrabungen auf der Trasse der Autobahn A 29 in Monchy-Lagache (Departement Somme) konnte in den Außenbezirken eines galloromischen Siedlungskomplexes (1.-4. Jh.) ein strukturierter Bereich freigelegt werden. An der Grenze zwischen Wohnbereich und Feldern gelegen, erfüllt er vor allem zwei Funktionen: Lagerung von Lebensmitteln und Beerdigung der Leichenbrände. Die chronologische und raumliche Wechselbeziehung dieser beiden Funktionen wird beobachtet und analysiert. Bei der Grabung von Monchy wurde ein Bereich mit Speichern, Grabstätten und Leichenbrandschüttungen entdeckt, der zu einer kleinen wohlhabenden Gemeinschaft gehörte, solche Strukturen sind in der Somme noch wenig bekannt.

The excavations on the site of Monchy-Lagache (Somme), occasioned by the construction of the A 29 motorway, revealed the existence of a developed zone on the edge of a Gallo-Roman habitat. Situated at the meeting-point of habitat and fields, it served two main purposes: the storage of foodstuffs and the interment of cremated human remains. The chrono-spatial correlation between those two functions is observed and analysed. The excavations at Monchy revealed a private space, occupied by a small, wealthy community, combining cellars, burials and ash pits, of a type hitherto little known in the Somme.

La fouille du site de Monchy-Lagache (Somme) a permis, lors de l'opération autoroutière A 29, de mettre au jour, à la périphérie d'un habitat gallo-romain (Ier-IVes.), un espace aménagé. Situé à l'interface entre habitat et champs, il abrite essentiellement deux fonctions : le stockage des denrées et l'ensevelissement des défunts incinérés. La corrélation chrono-spatiale de ces deux fonctions est observée et analysée. La fouille de Monchy a dévoilé un espace privatif occupé par une petite communauté aisée qui regroupe celliers, sépultures et fosses à dépôt de combustion, structure pour l'heure encore peu connue dans la Somme.
