D epuis 2002 un programme d’archéologie expérimentale effectué sur le site archéologique du château d’Orville à Louvres (Val-d’Oise) a notamment permis de tester la reconstitution de bâtiments carolingiens. Un fond de cabane et un grenier sur poteaux plantés ont chacun fait l’objet de deux versions différentes à la lumière des recherches récentes sur les charpentes et les modes de couverture médiévaux (chevrons formant ferme, bardeaux).
