Vor dem Bau eines Immobilienkomplexes wurde 1978 unter der Leitung von Georges-Pierre Woimant (Service départemental de l’Oise) eine archäologische Grabung durchgeführt. Dabei wurde die erste neuzeitliche Töpferwerkstatt innerhalb der Stadtmauer von Compiègne (Departement Oise) freigelegt. Die Entdeckung eines Töpferofens und eines Teils seiner Produktion, bestehend aus einer großen Menge noch intakter Gefäße, stellten eine außergewöhnliche Entdeckung dar. Darunter befanden sich Grapen mit Henkel mit Daumenauflage, Henkeltöpfe, davon einige mit Griffknubbe, Kochtöpfe, Näpfe mit Ausguss, Näpfe, Ohrenschalen sowie glasierte Teller. Die Typologie der Gefäße und zwei Münzen datieren dieses Ensemble in das letzte Viertel des 16. Jahrhunderts oder gar Anfang des 17. Jahrhunderts.

In anticipation of the building of a residential estate, an archaeological campaign was undertaken in 1978, under the direction of Georges-Pierre Woimant (Archaeological Unit of the Oise District). This operation enabled the discovery of the first potters’ workshop of the Modern era inside the city walls of Compiègne (Oise). The relatively well preserved kiln, together with a part of its production comprising a large quantity of undamaged vases, constituted a quite exceptional discovery. The inventory shows tripod pot with handles to poucier, coquemars sometimes provided with a pin, cooking pots, pots jugs , bowls, with ears and glazed plates. The typology of the pieces of pottery together with the discovery of two coins date this ensemble to the last quarter of the 16th century, or maybe the beginning of the 17th century.

Préalablement à la construction d’un complexe immobilier, une opération archéologique est effectuée en 1978, sous la responsabilité de Georges-Pierre Woimant (Service départemental de l’Oise). Cette intervention a permis de mettre au jour le premier atelier de potiers d’époque moderne à l’intérieur de l’enceinte urbaine de Compiègne (Oise). Relativement bien conservés, un four et une partie de sa production, composée d’une grande quantité de vases encore intacts, furent une découverte exceptionnelle. On recense des pots tripodes à anse en poucier, des coquemars parfois munis d’un tenon, des marmites, des pots verseurs, des jattes, des écuelles à oreilles et des assiettes vernissées. La typologie des pots et la présence de deux monnaies placent cet ensemble dans le dernier quart du XVIe siècle voire le début du XVIIe siècle.
