Land and economical transformations in the Senegal river valley. Political and ethnic issues at stake. First hand observations set, difficult to obtain owing to land, political and ethnic tensions prevailing in the East Trarza Region, were gathered by the authors while they were on a mission for evaluation organized by the World Bank ami Mauritanian authorities : they help to better understand the context, the origins and the reasons of the recorded conflicts.

Un ensemble d’observations de première main, difficilement accessibles en raison des tensions foncières, politiques et ethniques qui régnent dans la région du Trarza Est, ont été réunies par les auteurs lors d’une mission d’évaluation organisée par la Banque mondiale et les autorités mauritaniennes : elles permettent de mieux comprendre le contexte, l’origine et les raisons des conflits constatés.
