Democracy and land logics in Benin. In spite of the discourse on the containment of regionalism the land logic has triumphed as a political strategy for the territorial establishment of the candidates running for election and as a strategy to have really responsible elected representatives for the voters. The political history of the country from independence to the accession of the democratic renewal doesn’t break this land logic illustrated by the composition of the National Assembfy and the executive authorities.

En dépit du discours sur l’endiguement du régionalisme, on assiste au triomphe de la logique du terroir comme stratégie politique d'ancrage territorial pour les candidats aux élections, et pour les électeurs comme stratégie d’avoir des élus qui soient véritablement responsables devant eux. L’histoire politique du pays depuis l’indépendance jusqu’à l’avènement du Renouveau démocratique ne déroge pas à cette logique du terroir qui s’est illustrée dans la composition de l’Assemblée nationale et des instances de l’exécutif.
