How does the threshold of recognition of objects vary as a junction of age and method of their presentation. Four groups of girls aged 6 ; 11, 8 ; 2, 10 ; 6, and 22 ; 1 were examined. Eight different objects (small scale models or natural size) were used. They were introduced into the tachistoscope as real objects (three dimensional), photographs, shaded and detailed drawings, and simple line drawings. The tallied results show that for all the methods of presentation, the threshold decreases as age increases. The following order, from the easiest to recognize to the most difficult, was found : the detailed drawings, the objects themselves, the photographs, the simple line drawings. Comment varie le seuil de reconnaissance d'objets en fonction de l'âge et du mode de présentation ? 4 groupes de filles âgées de 6; 11, 8 ; 2, 10; 6 et 22 ; 1 ont été examinés. 8 objets différents (en modèle réduit ou en grandeur nature) ont été utilisés. Ils ont été présentés au tachistoscope en objet réel (tridimensionnel), en photographie, en dessin ombré et détaillé, et en dessin au trait. Les résultats concordants montrent que pour tous les modes de présentation le seuil s'abaisse avec l'âge ; la diminution est surtout sensible entre 6 et 8 ans. La difficulté relative des modes de présentation ne varie pas avec l'âge. Dans l'ordre, du plus facile à reconnaître au plus difficile, on trouve : les dessins ombrés, les objets eux-mêmes, les photographies, les dessins au trait. Cet ordre général peut cependant varier quelque peu en fonction de l'objet et de son angle de présentation.
