The very abundant malacological fauna gathered in the Biache-Saint-Vaast (Northern France) palaeolithic settlement shows the existence of a strong interstade, the climate of which was similar to the climate of to-day. The climatic optimum of this interstade coincides with it's human occupation. The strong interstade excludes the possibility of a würmian age.

La faune malacologique très abondante recueillie dans le gisement paléolithique de Biache-Saint-Vaast (Nord de la France) montre l'existence d'un interstade important, au climat proche de l'actuel dans la région. L'optimum climatique de cet interstade coïncide avec les niveaux d'occupation humaine. L'importance de cet interstade exclut la possibilité d'un âge würmien.
