Le site de "Tiron", sur la commune de Saint-Patrice (Indre-et-Loire), a été découvert à l'occasion des recherches préalables à la construction de l'autoroute A. 85 (Angers-Tours). Les vestiges sont répartis à l'extrémité d'un éperon dominant la plaine alluviale de la Loire, au pied duquel passait la voie romaine qui reliait Tours à Angers ; le site est en limite occidentale de la civitas turonum. Une première occupation antique (deuxième moitié du Ier s. ap. J.-C.) est identifiée à travers des fosses à dolia recouvertes par les maçonneries de la villa qui lui succède. Celle-ci est caractérisée par un long bâtiment d'habitation aménagé en terrasses et divisé en parties résidentielles et balnéaires, des structures d'exploitation et une aire cultuelle constituée d'un portique précédant un petit enclos avec un édicule maçonné et plusieurs dépôts d'offrandes. Des murs de terrasses, installés le long des ruptures de pentes délimitent une occupation qui semble intégralement contenue dans les emprises de fouille et dont la chronologie est comprise entre la fin du Ier s. ap. J.-C. et le début du IIIe s. La situation topographique offre des avantages déterminants pour l'installation de cette villa qui marque un nouveau jalon d'habitat le long du coteau dominant la Loire en aval de Tours.
