A whimsical invitation to journey along the 45th Parallel, «Santa’s Village », a short story by Canadian writer Martin Avery, brings us back to an amusement park in Ontario where under the protection of Santa Claus are staged different versions of the National Dream — and nightmares. Dealing with borrowing and exchanges, the story constructs a ludic space of transformations, partly based on other fictions and on Margaret Atwood's Survival, which allows the author playfully to explore the cultural identity of Canadian literature and the nature of writing.

Invitation à voyager le long du 45e Parallèle, la nouvelle du Canadien Martin Avery, «Santa's Village », nous ramène à un très fantaisiste parc d’attractions en Ontario où sous le patronage de Saint-Nicolas sont mises en tableaux vivants différentes versions du Rêve National — et des cauchemars canadiens.
