In an unpublished interview Ann-Marie MacDonald cited Bugs Bunny and the Brontes as the the two major influences on her prize-winning novel Fall on your knees (1996). These two elements, at first sight contradictory, are evident in her work, and an analysis of them illuminates her art.

Dans une interview non publiée, Ann-Marie MacDonald a désigné Bugs Bunny et les Brontes comme les deux influences principales ayant agi sur son roman Fall on your knees (1996), vainqueur du Commonwealth Best First Novel. Ces deux influences (a priori contradictoires) sont évidentes dans l’œuvre d’Ann-Marie MacDonald et son art se trouve éclairé par l’examen de celles-ci.
