Georges Benrekassa : D'Holbach and the Question of the Nation. An analysis of D'Holbach's Encyclopédie article représentants, which brings out its contradictory elements. It is linked to an archaic vision of society but proposes a new social dynamics and new questions ; the end of the article in particular is open to two readings. Thus we can see how the Encyclopédie reflects its time, embodies its conflicting tendencies and evolves with changes in political thought.
