Into the discussion on the iconologie reading of the Iberian civilisation, which has only an archeological history, the author introduces testimony of attempts made in Italian fields. He proposes to put the Iberian world between the Etruscan one - where the integration of Greek culture and proper Etruscan culture relies upon the structure of local society, able or needing to use the images proposed by Greek culture - and the world of other local societies of ancient Italy which, though they had been in close contact with the Greek colonial world, denied the Greek images because in their structures they did not need them.

Dans le débat sur la lecture iconologique dans le cadre d'une civilisation comme l'ibérique, qui n'a qu'une histoire archéologique, l'auteur apporte le témoignage des tentatives réalisées dans le domaine de l'Italie. Il invite à situer le cas du monde ibérique entre celui de la civilisation étrusque, où l'intégration entre culture grecque et culture étrusque s'appuie sur une structure de la société locale indigène qui est capable ou a besoin de faire usage des images proposées par la culture grecque, et celle d'autres sociétés indigènes de l'Italie antique qui, malgré leur contact étroit avec le monde grec colonial, ont refusé l'imagerie grecque parce que, dans les structures qui étaient les leurs, elles n'en avaient pas besoin.
