The Treuhandanstalt in the privatization of East- German agriculture. The responsibility of the Treuhandanstalt (THA) in the privatization of agriculture in the five new German Lander is here put up in its patrimony and its organization chart. The approach of its priorities is complex as it gives way back to a contested policy which transparency and consequences led to serious criticism (I). The branch of the THA called BWG (Society for the management and the administration of the soil), set to work in June 1992, takes a part of the THA's functions for a longer term (about 15 years). The assignment of sales or leases is a fundamental item in the present policy of the authority in each Land and in the German Federation (II). Furthermore, the agricultural unions and all the local performers act to defend their own interests, which are often contradictory, as to the management of rural area (III).

La responsabilité de la Treuhandanstalt (THA) dans la privatisation de l'agriculture des cinq nouveaux Lânder allemands est ici présentée à partir de son patrimoine et de son organigramme. L'approche de ses priorités est plus complexe car elle renvoit à une politique contestée. Sa « transparence » et ses effets ont donné lieu à de nombreuses critiques (I). La filiale de la THA, la Société de gestion et d'administration des sols (BWG), mise en place en juin 1992, reprend une partie de ces fonctions pour une plus longue durée (environ 15 ans). L'attribution des terres, par vente ou par bail, est un élément fondamental dans la politique actuelle des autorités de chaque Land et de la Fédération allemande (II). En outre, les syndicats agricoles et les multiples acteurs locaux réagissent pour défendre des intérêts souvent contradictoires dans la gestion de l'espace rural (III).
