This analysis of behaviour in a virtual environment shows that interactional conventions are transposed rather than modified. Immersed in the world of Palace, the main French-language chat room, the authors have identified the existence of a highly codified community. They describe the functioning of this community in detail, from a Goffmanian point of view.

L'analyse du comportement des acteurs dans un univers virtuel montre que les conventions interactionnelles y sont davantage transposées que modifiées. En s 'immergeant dans le monde de Palace, le principal lieu de chat francophone, les auteurs s'attachent à y repérer l'existence d'une communauté très codifiée dont ils détaillent le fonctionnement dans une problématique goffmanienne.
