Résumé En

A check list is given of the 21 species of «herptiles » presently found living in the Camargue : 7 Amphibians, 1 Turtle, 7 Lizards and 6 Snakes. The preferential biotopes of the four most abundant species of snakes are described. Elaphe scalaris is found in the «gallery forests» and vineyards. Malpodon monspessulaniis lives in all kinds of Camargue habitats, sand dunes excepted. Natrix maura is mostly found in rice fields and Natrix n. helvetica in fresh water marshes.
