Der Begriff des Ausschlusses erfuhr in den letzten 20 Jahren eine so außer-ordentliche Verbreitung, daß er neuerings die prestigereiche Stufe eines "gesellschaftlichen Paradigmas" erreicht. Dieser Begriff erklärt, so seine Benutzer, die wesentlichen wirtschaftlichen und sozialen Veränderungen der gegenwärtigen Welt. Über seine beschreibenden und erklärenden Eigenschaften läßt sich unserer Meinung nach jedoch streiten.Es stellt sich die Frage, ob sein Erfolg sich nicht hauptsächlich dadurch erklärt, daß er ein anderes Paradigma schlichtweg vertuscht, beziehungsweise okultiert: das Paradigma des Konflikts, genauer gesagt des Klassenkampfes. So werden vielleicht durch ihn die Veränderungen, die sich ereignen, unspürbar und unwahrnehmbar, ganz besonders in Bezug auf die eskalierende Ausbeutung und Domination. Diese Hypothese wollen wir hier ausbauen.

Over the last two decades, the concept of exclusion has been so widely used that it has now reached the higher status of "social paradigm". According to the people using this notion, it throws a light on the main economical and social changes in the contemporary world. The descriptive qualities and the explanatory virtues of this concept seem however rather questionable. Could we not mainly attribute its success to its contribution to the weakening, or even the eclipse of another paradigm - that of conflict, or more precisely of class struggle - by making imperceptible and unintelligible the ongoing changes, especially as regards the worsening of exploitation and domination ? That is the hypothesis we will try to back up in this piece of writing.

La notion d'exclusion a connu ces deux dernières décennies une diffusion exceptionnelle jusqu'à être élevée récemment à la dignité de “paradigme sociétal”. Cette notion éclairerait, d'après ses utilisateurs, les principales transformations économiques et sociales du monde contemporain. Pour autant, ses qualités descriptives et ses vertus explicatives nous semblent très discutables. Son succès ne s'expliquerait-il pas d'abord par sa contribution à la dilution, voire à l'occultation, d'un autre paradigme, celui du conflit, et plus précisément de la lutte de classe, en rendant imperceptibles et inintelligibles les transformations en cours, notamment en termes d'aggravation de l'exploitation et de la domination ? C'est cette hypothèse que nous tenterons d'étayer dans cette contribution.
