Résumé
Writing on William Gass' « in the Heart of the Heart of the Country » is writing over the text, an obliteration of the delicate engraving of its surface. Gass invites his reader to an experience of writing with his text as it guides him in an exploratory journey over the erotic texture of the world of words. The title, recalling Stein's « a rose is a rose is a rose is a rose, » while it posits depth, celebrates the surface, the skin, the ultimate frontier maintaining erotic sensation at a necessary distance.
