Résumé
Costner's film has been hailed as a politically correct testimonial dedicated to the truth about the Indians. My argument is to show how, on the contrary, Dances contains all the ingredients of the classical western and reactualizes Euro-American myths about the West and the Native Americans which it misrepresents, while it rehabilitates the good and noble white male yearning for physical and spiritual wholeness.
