Language awareness at pre-school age. - Comments made by young children about their own language, which, for the linguist, are unambiguously metalinguistic productions do not necessarily reveal a metalinguistic competency from a psychological point of view. So, the conscious and thoughtful feature of the cognitive activity which presides over the production, has to be established.
