Political socialization. analytical strategies, theoretical stakes and new research agendas The quantitative approaches to the phenomena of political socialization have nourished research in this area for a long time, without however leading to a reflection on their so­ciological relevance. This work analyzes on one hand the prevalent US behaviorist approaches to the processes of transmission of values and political beliefs from parents to children and on the other hand the research strategies which deal with the effect of the « context », of the immersion of the individual in social « networks » or of particular his­torical conjunctures on attitude changes. To conclude an analysis which emphasizes the sociological aspect of this research, the article surveys the criticisms to these still domi­nant approaches levelled by certain authors as well as the research agendas proposed by them, inspired by various currents in American social psychology.

Les approches quantitatives des phénomènes de socialisation politique nourrirent pendant longtemps la recherche en ce domaine, sans donner lieu toutefois à une réflexion sur leur pertinence sociologique. Dans ce travail sont analysées d'une part les approches behavioristes dominantes aux États-Unis de processus de transmission de valeurs et de croyances politiques entre parents et enfants, et d'autre part les stratégies de recherche qui traitent des effets du «contexte», de l'immersion de l'individu dans des «réseaux» sociaux ou de conjonctures historiques particulières sur le changement d'attitudes. Au ternie d'une analyse qui privilégie l'aspect sociologique de ces recherches, l'auteur aborde les critiques opposées par un certain nombre de chercheurs à ces approches encore dominantes, ainsi que les agendas de recherche proposés par eux sous l'influence de certains courants de la psychologie sociale américaine.
