Recent changes and present tourist trend on the seafront of Aquitaine. Has the official Development Board that was invested with the responsibility of managing the increase and enlargement of the sea side resorts of Aquitaine lost the control of their evolution ? The fact is that the primitive development scheme supported various integrated resorts' projects in some places where its incitative measures had but few effects up to now since they probably did not fit the private investors' requirements. On the other hand the previous resorts grew quicker and larger under the pressure of various investment firms and the ancient towns already blown up by their seasonal residential functions have undertaken the expensive patching up of their old central cores, most of them being overcrowded for a few peak weeks in summer ; many tourists cannot find any accommodation in the coastal area during the peak season and they spread out into the inner Landes area where their increased number already had some effects on the actual pattern of services. The regional balance experimented therefore further deterioration and the endeavour to spare some forest and shore areas already appear as a rearguard action.
La Côte Aquitaine a, depuis la mise en place de la Mission, évolué dans un sens différent de ce qui avait été annoncé. Les opérations-pilotes menées tardivement n'affectent que quelques points du littoral, Lacanau, Carcans-Maubuisson, Capbreton, Port-d'Albret, et leurs effets d'entraînement paraissent encore limités. Par contre, la croissance spontanée des stations se poursuit à un rythme assez rapide, ainsi que la restructuration des vieux noyaux urbains, et la politique de préservation des espaces naturels, tardive elle aussi, commence à produire ses effets. L'absence d'étalement de la saison estivale et la croissance insuffisante des hébergements de type social rendent très difficile le problème des hébergements au moment de la plus forte pression touristique.
Operaciones de la re-estructuración de la costa de Aquitania. — La costa de Aquitania, desde que se fundó la Misión, ha evolucionado hacia una orientación diferente de la que se habia annunciado. Las operaciones-pilotos efectuadas tardíamente no afectan mas que algunos puntos del litoral : Lacanau, Carcans-Maubuisson, Capbreton, Port-d'Albert, y no parecen haber acarreado hasta el momento sino efectos limitados de entrenamiento. En cambio el crecimiento espontáneo de los balnearios se va prosiguiendo con un ritmo bastante rápido asi como la re-estructuración de los viejos núcleos urbano mientras que la politica de conservación de los espacios naturales, también tardía, empieza a producir efectos. El que no haya una duración prolongada de la estación estival ni un crecimiento suficiente de alojamientos de tipo social hace muy dificultuoso el problema del hospedamiente en el momento de mayor presión turística.
