L'étude des mots interpres et interpretatio éclaire la signification religieuse du procédé de l'interpretatio Romana qui, loin d'être un facteur d'abâtardissement de la religion traditionnelle, a permis aux Romains de concilier leur fidélité aux conceptions nationales et leur curiosité des cultes étrangers.
