M.V. Dmitriev : The Reformation among the eastern Slavs The sixteenth century witnesses, among the eastern Slavs (Ukrainians, White Russians, and Russians), the appearance of religious movements, opposed to the Orthodox Church, which spread ideas similar to those of the Protestant Reformers. When persecuted by Moscow, the Leaders of those movements seek refuge in Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, where they become active propagandists within the Orthodox community and, by their methods and teaching, adopt the same positions as the men spreading the ideas of the Reformation.

Au milieu du XVIe siècle apparaissent parmi les slaves orientaux (ukrainiens, biélorusses et russes) des mouvements religieux qui s'élèvent contre l'église orthodoxe et diffusent des idées proches du protestantisme. Persécutés par Moscou, les zélateurs de ces mouvements se réfugient en Pologne et dans le grand duché de Lithuanie où ils mènent une propagande active parmi la population orthodoxe et rejoignent, par leur manière d'agir et dans leur enseignement, les propagateurs des idées de la Réforme.
