Adding itself to the ancient discoveries of Dury and Cherisy, and to the near by pottery kilns of Haucourt, the necropolis of Ecourt-Saint -Quentin illustrates in a similar way the distribution of the rural communities scattered, in the Merlovingian times, over the vast territory of the ancient city of the Atrebates. Given the results of the stratigraphical survey, it looks as though this cemetery had been used at two different periods, shown by two levels of graves. The characteristics of the objects found in the graves of the first level allow a datation to the end of the VIth century at the earliest, and more certainly to the following century.

S'ajoutant aux découvertes anciennes de Dury et Cherisy, et à la localisation proche des fours de potiers d'Haucourt, la nécropole d'Ecourt-Saint-Quentin illustre de même la répartition de groupes ruraux disséminés à l'époque mérovingienne sur les vastes espaces de l'ancienne cité des Atrébates. Compte-tenu de la stratigraphie, il semblerait que ce cimetière ait connu deux phases d'utilisation représentées par deux niveaux d'inhumation. Les caractéristiques des objets déposés dans les tombes du premier niveau, permettent de les situer, au plus tôt à la fin du VIème siècle, plus certainement dans le courant du siècle suivant.

Philippe Beaussart, "Notitie over het merovingisch kerkhof te Ecourt-Saint-Quentin (Pas-de-Calais)" Net zoals bleek uit de oude ontdekkingen van Dury en Cheresy en uit de localisatie in de nabijheid, van de pottenbakkersoven van Haucourt, illustreert de necropool van Ecourt-Saint-Quentin dezelfde verspreiding van rurale groepen in het merovingisch tijdperk over het uitgestrekte oude gebied van de Atrebaten. Uit de stratigraphie kan men afleiden dat de begraafplaats tijdens twee perioden is gebruikt, dat blijkt uit twee begravingniveau's. De kenmerken van de objekten aangetroffen in graven op het eerste niveau laten toe deze te situeren ten vroegste op het einde van de 6de eeuw, met meer zekerheid in de loop van de volgende eeuw.
