The Marsys, an active family of artists in Cambrai, reached a national fame during the reign of Louis XIV. Jaspar, author of the Saint-Aubert rood-screen, let his sons leave for the capital of France and eventually joined them there. Gaspar (1624 or 25-1681) and Balthazard (1628-1674), undoubtedly helped by Buyster and Van Opstal, their countrymen, gained an early access to the royal constructions and raised themselves to the highest rank. They will both be members of the Academy. Their major works are to be found in the park of the Palace of Versailles : Horses of the Sun, Ponds of Latone, Bacchus, and Encelade. Rivals of Girardon and Tuby, they demonstrate the existence of a certain Baroque trend within French sculpture at the classical age.

Les Marsy, famille d'artistes actifs à Cambrai, parviendront à la notoriété nationale durant le règne de Louis XIV. Jaspar, auteur du jubé de Saint-Aubert, laissa partir pour la capitale française ses fils qu'il rejoindra d'ailleurs. Gaspard (1624 ou 1625-1681) et Balthazard (1628-1674), sans doute aidés par leurs compatriotes Buyster et Van Opstal, accédèrent assez tôt aux chantiers royaux et se hisseront au premier rang. Ils seront tous deux académiciens. Leurs oeuvres majeures se trouvent dans le parc de Versailles : Chevaux du Soleil, Bassins de Latone, de Bacchus, d'Encelade. Rivaux de Girardon et de Tuby, ils attestent l'existence d'un certain courant baroque dans la sculpture française de l'âge classique.

Jaspar, de auteur van het doksaal van Saint-Aubert, laat zijn zonen naar Parijs vertrekken, en gaat daar later ook heen. Gaspard (1624 of 1625-1681) en Balthazar (1628-1674) werden waarschijnlijk geholpen door hun landegenoten Buyster en Van Opstael en kregen weldra toegang tot de koninklijke werven, waar zij een eerste rangsrol speelden. Zij werden beiden lid van de akademie. Hun voomaamste werken bevinden zich in het park te Versailles : de zonnepaarden, de vijvers van Laton, van Bacchus, van Encelade. Zij waren de rivalen van Girardon en Tuby en zijn de exponenten van de barokke stroming in de Franse beeldhouwkunst in de klassieke tijd.
