This study rests upon the serial analysis of the records of societies deposited in the record-office of the district Court of Justice. The statistical figures of creations and dissolutions, those of capitalization are all precious indicators of regional conjuncture. The also show the evolution of industrial structures and localizations. But above all these records provides us with informations on the modes of management of business societies. They confirm the family character of many societies, the mistrust of manufacturers toward the banking system and the current practise of self-financing. The records kept in the record-office of the commercial court permit also to study the professions of the associates. To sum up, these documents bring us as many informations on the history of the families and social relations as on economical and social history.

L'article repose sur l'analyse sérielle des actes de société déposés au greffe du tribunal de l'arrondissement de Lille. Les statistiques des créations des dissolutions, celles de la capitalisation sont toutes des indicateurs précieux de la conjoncture régionale. Elles révèlent aussi l'évolution des structures et des localisations industrielles. Mais surtout les actes de société nous renseignent sur les modes de gestion des entreprises. Ils confirment le caractère familial de beaucoup de société, la méfiance des industriels à l'égard du système bancaire et les pratiques courantes de l'autofinancement. Les registres conservés au greffe du tribunal de commerce permettent encore d'étudier les professions des associés. En résumé cette source nous apporte autant d'informations sur l'histoire des familles et les relations sociales que sur l'histoire économique et industrielle.

Voor dit artikel werden de handelingen van de maatschappijen gedeponeerd bij de griffie van het tribunaal van het arrondissement Rijsel onderzocht. De statistieken van de oprichtingen en de ontbindingen en ook van de verhogingen van het kapitaal zijn waardevolle elementen voor de studie van de ekonomische konjunktuur van de streek. Men volgt zo ook de evolutie van de industriële structuren en de plaatsing en verplaatsing van de fabrieken. De handelingen van de maatschappijen geven verder een goed beeld van het beheer van die maatschappijen. Het onderzoek bevestigt het familiaal karakter van veel maatschappijen, het wantrouwen van de industriëlen tegenover het bankwezen en de daarmee samenhangende praktijk van de zelffinanciering. In deze registers kan men ook nagaan welk beroepen de vennoten uitoefenden. Kortom deze bron brengt zowel inlichtingen over de geschiedenis van de families en de sociale verhoudingen als over de ekonomische en industriële geschiedenis.
