Presentation of 103 sigillated pottery signatures found in Ardres {Noires-Terres vicus) which represent one of the finest series hitherto discovered in the Nord/Pas-de-Calais area : studying pattern, inventory, and conclusions about the penmanship, the origins and the datation of this material. One must notice a decay in penmanship from Higher to Lower Empire, the migration of potters from Southern Gaul towards Centre and later Eastern Gaul, the predominance of Centre Gaul workshops in the Ilnd century and the rise in power of those of the North and North-East in the middle of the Ilnd century and the Illrd. This study is also placed within the local context of archaeology : Romanisa- tion of the vicus ca. year 50, acme in the Ilnd century, decline in the Illrd century and abandonment ca. 268, in relation with the first invasions and before the Dunkirk II marine transgression partly covered the side.

Présentation de 103 signatures *sur céramique sigillée, trouvées à Ardres (vicus des Noires -Terres), et constituant une des plus belles séries découvertes dans la région Nord/Pas-de-Calais : méthode d'étude, inventaire, et conclusions concernant la graphie, la provenance, et la datation de ce matériel. L'on constate la décadence de la graphie du Haut au Bas-Empire, la migration des potiers du sud de la Gaule, vers le Centre, puis l'Est, la prépondérance des officines du Centre au IIe siècle et la montée en puissance de celles du Nord et du Nord-Est dès le milieu du IIe et au IIIe siècle. L'étude est aussi placée dans le contexte archéologique local : romanisation du vicus vers 50, apogée au IIe siècle, déclin au IIIe siècle et abandon vers 268, en rapport avec les premières invasions et avant que la transgression marine Dunkerque II ne recouvre, en partie, le site.

Voorstelling van 103 merken op keramiek met zegels gevonden te Ardres (vicus van de « Noires-Terres », een van de mooiste reeksen ooit ontdekt in Noord-Frankrijk : studiemethode, inventaris, conclusies voor het schrift, her- komst en datering. Men konstateert de dekadentie van het schrift van het vroege tot het late Kei- zerrijk, de migratie van de pottenbakkers van het zuiden van Gallië naar het centrum en dan nar het oosten, het grote belang van de ateliers in het centrum in de IIe eeuw, en de opkomst van die in het noorden en het noordoosten vanaf het midden van de IIe en IIIe eeuw. De studie wordt gesitueerd tegen de achtegrond van de lokale archeologische kontekst : romanisering van de vicus omstreeks 50, bloei in de IIe eeuw, en ondergang in de IIIe, en verlaten van de plaats in ongeveer 268, wegens de eerste invasies, nog voor de IIe Duinkerkse transgressie de plaats gedeeltelijk overs- troomde.
