Uphill from the construction of the future nursing home in Bavay, in the south-eastern part of the contemporary city, archaeological excavations were carried out on an about 200 square meter large plot of land. It permitted to discover the foundations of a portion of dwelling destroyed in the first half of the Illrd century. This chronology was provided by the pottery findings. By comparing the proposed datation for the levelling out of this dwelling with other excavations carried out in various points of Bavay (except the area surrounding the forum), it is interesting to note that there was a destruction of the domestic facilities as early as the first half ot the IIIrd century without later reconstruction.

En amont de la construction de la future Maison de retraite de Bavay au sud-est de la ville actuelle, une fouille archéologique a été faite sur une surface d'environ 200 m2. Elle a permis de découvrir les fondations d'une partie d'un habitat détruit dans la première moitié du IIIe siècle. Cette chronologie est fournie par la céramique. En comparant la datation proposée pour l'arasement de cet habitat avec d'autres fouilles effectuées en différents points de Bavay (hormis la zone contiguë au forum), il est intéressant de constater qu'il y a une destruction des installations domestiques dès la 1ère moitié du IIIe siècle, sans reconstruction postérieure.

Wat verder dan de plaats waar het toekomstige rusthuis van Bavay gebouwd wordt ten zuidwesten van de huidige stad ken men een oppervlakte van 200 m2 onderzoeken. Men trof er een deel van een verwoeste wening aan, aan de keramiek te zien in de eerste helft van de Hide eeuw. Vergelijkt men dit met vondsten op andere plaatsen (buiten de zone rond het forum) dan stelt men vast dat de toen verwoeste woningen later niet meer werden opgebouwd.
