Brûle-Maison's Portraits. After a brief summery of the life of François Cottignies, a.k.a. Brûle-Maison (1678-1740), the author of this paper makes an inventory of the portraits of this famous Lille songwriter, who created the literature in Picard dialect (vernacular language) in the North of France. A gouache recently acquired by the Centre d'Histoire Locale de Tourcoing is presented and three interpretations of that portrait written in the xixth century are criticized. Certain data of the Lille cultural context in the xvmth century are described with an increased accuracy, and notably a literary quarrel that opposed a group of artists and writers, and that commentators didn't mention. Two satirical poems allow to assign the portrait to 1735 and to give it its proper title : « Tiroux Inspiring Brûle-Maison ».

L'auteur résume la biographie de François Cottignies dit Brûle-Maison (1678-1740), puis fait l'inventaire des portraits de ce célèbre chansonnier lillois, créateur de la littérature en dialecte picard (patois) dans le Nord de la France. On présente une gouache qui vient d'être acquise par le Centre d'Histoire Locale de Tourcoing et on critique trois interprétations qui en ont été données au XIXe siècle. Certaines données du contexte culturel de Lille au XVIIIe siècle sont précisées, notamment une querelle littéraire qui agitait un groupe d'artistes et d'écrivains, et dont les commentateurs n'ont pas fait état. Deux poèmes satiriques permettent de dater le tableau de 1735, et de l'intituler : « Tiroux inspirant Brûle-Maison ».

De auteur vat de biografie samen van François Cottignies genaamd Brûle-Maison (1678-1740) en stelt daama de inventaris op van de portretten van deze beroemde Rij seise chansonnier die aan de basis lag van de literatuur in het Picardisch in Noordfrankrijk. Aan de hand van een recent verworven gouache door het Centre d'Histoire Locale van Tourcoing bekijkt men kritisch drie interpretaties uit de XIXde eeuw. Uit het XVIIIde-eeuwse cultuurleven van Rijsel kan men een paar concrete gegevens halen, o.a. een literaire twist tussen en aantal kunstenaars en schrijvers waarover de commentatoren niets gezegd hebben. Men kan het schilderij dateren met behulp van twee satirische gedichten in 1735 en het de titel « Tiroux inspireert Brûle-Maison » geven.
