Using a survey made of a group of workers of the municipality of Quebec, the authors show that the voluntary choice of night work can be motivated by certain ways in which work is organized. This choice makes it possible for workers to escape the control and supervision on the day-shift when these are thought to be too severe.

A partir d'une enquête réalisée auprès d'un groupe d'ouvriers d'une municipalité du Québec, les auteurs montrent que le choix volontaire du travail de nuit peut être motivé par certaines formes d'organisation du travail : il permet d'échapper aux modes de contrôle et de surveillance jugés trop sévères dans les équipes de jour.
