L’enseignement français à l’étranger, une exception éducative : aspects contradictoires de la mondialisation

This article aims to analyse how the migrants and the exiles — especially the Congreganists — have developed a French educative network abroad, a network which has both succeeded in exporting French culture and combined respect for the local people and the universality of critical thinking. This article explores 2 contradictory aspects of globalization. If this network — which is a legacy of the colonial era — serves the French economic and diplomatic interests — on a financial globalization level — one must bear in mind that it perpetuates both a tradition of excellence in terms of education and a worldwide pluralistic policy, open to cultural singularities and conveying cosmopolitan forces of opposition.

Cet article évoque comment mignrats et exilés, surtout congréganistes, ont constitué un réseau éducatif français à l’étranger qui a su exporter la culture française et conjuguer le respect du local et l’universalité de la raison critique. Il étudie deux aspects contradictoires de la mondialisation : si, héritage du colonialisme, le réseau – côté mondialisation financière-sert les intérêts économiques et diplomatiques français, il cultive aussi l’exception éducative ainsi qu’un mondialisme pluraliste, ouvert aux singularités culturelles et vecteur de contre-pouvoirs cosmopolites.
