Ein bisher unveröffentlichtes römisches Porträt von Laurent Pécheux : das des Geistlichen François Jacquier. Aufgrund der neuerlichen Entdeckung eines bisher unveröffentlichten Porträts von Laurent Pécheux, das den Geistlichen François Jacquier (1711-1788) darstellt, der dem Orden der Mindesten Brüder angehörte, ein berühmter Mathematiker und Physiker, Exeget, Linguist und Arkade war, können die Bedingungen des Aufenthalts des Malers in Parma besser verstanden werden. Die Freundschaftsbeziehungen mit Künstlern (Mengs, Ba toni) und politischen Persönlichkeiten (Vogt von Breteuil, Guillaume du Tillot), denen Pécheux seine Aufnahme als erster Maler am Hof von Parma verdankte, sind uns durch einen besonders ausführlichen Teil seiner Memoiren bekannt, in dem der Bürger von Lyon ein al vivo gemaltes Porträt des Geistlichen Jacquier erwahnt, das am Ende des Jahres 1764 entstanden ist und das wir als mit dem hier untersuchten Porträt identisch anzusehen vorschlagen. Die Entdeckung dieses Porträts in einer Privatsammlung in Lyon wird durch diejenige einer damit zusammengehörenden Zeichnung ergänzt, die sich im Musée des Beaux-Arts in Lyon befindet, und erlaubt eine genauere Einschätzung der gemalten Ikonographie des Geistlichen Jacquier, einer prominenten Figur im Rom der Aufklärung (Angelika Kauffmann, Gabriel Blanchard usw.).
A previously unknown Roman painting by Laurent Pécheux : the portrait of Father François Jacquier. The recent discovery of a previously unknown portrait by Laurent Pécheux depicting Father François Jacquier (1711-1788), friar of the Order of the Minims, celebrated mathematician and physicist, exegete, linguist and member of the Arcadian Academy, enables us to understand better the circumstances of the painter's sojourn in Parma. The artistic (Mengs, Batoni) and political (bailli de Breteuil, Guillaume du Tillot) friendships that earned Pécheux the title of First Painter to the Court of Parma are known to us thanks to an especially detailed passage in his memoirs, in which the painter from Lyon mentions a portrait of Father Jacquier, painted al vivo in late 1764 : it is this work that we propose to identify with the painting here examined. The discovery of this portrait in a private collection in Lyon is complemented with that of a related drawing held in the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Lyon and enables us to re-evaluate the pictorial iconography of Father Jacquier, a prominent figure in Rome during the Enlightenment (Angelica Kauffmann, Gabriel Blanchard, etc.)
Un inedito romano di Laurent Pécheux : il ritratto di Padre François Jacquier. Il recente ritrovamento di un ritratto inedito di Laurent Pécheux che raffigura Padre François Jacquier (1711-1788), della congregazione dei Minimi, matematico e fisico rinomato, esegeta, linguista e arcade, permette di comprendere meglio le circostanze del soggiorno parmense del pittore. Le amicizie artistiche (Mengs, Batoni) e politiche (Bailli de Breteuil, Guillaume du Tillot) che valsero a Pécheux il titolo di primo pittore di corte a Parma, ci sono note grazie a un brano particolarmente dettagliato delle sue memorie, in cui il lionese menziona un ritratto di Padre Jacquier al vivo, dipinto alla fine dell'anno 1764 e che si propone di identificare con il ritratto qui esaminato. La scoperta di questo quadro in collezione privata a Lione si accompagna a quella di un disegno in rapporto ad esso, conservato al Musée des Beaux-Arts della stessa città, e consente di fare il punto sull'iconografia pittorica di Padre Jacquier, figura eminente della Roma dei Lumi (Angelica Kauffmann, Gabriel Blanchard e altri).
La découverte récente d'un portrait inédit par Laurent Pécheux représentant le Père François Jacquier (1711-1788), minime, mathématicien et physicien réputé, exégète, linguiste et Arcade, permet de mieux saisir les circonstances du séjour parmesan du peintre. Les amitiés artistiques (Mengs, Batoni) et politiques (bailli de Breteuil, Guillaume du Tillot) qui valurent à Pécheux sa réception au titre de premier peintre de la cour de Parme, nous sont connues par un passage particulièrement détaillé de ses mémoires, dans lequel le Lyonnais fait mention d'un portrait du Père Jacquier al vivo, peint à la fin de l'année 1764 et que nous proposons de confondre avec le portrait étudié ici. La découverte de ce portrait en collection particulière lyonnaise se double de celle d'un dessin en rapport conservé au musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon et permet de faire le point sur l'iconographie peinte du Père Jacquier, figure éminente de la Rome des Lumières (Angelica Kauffmann, Gabriel Blanchard, etc.).
