Résumé En

A geo-archaeological survey, joining the eastern part of the GERAS A territory with the limes area down to the via nova traiana, has led the author to the analysis of a particular Roman territorial organization. Three intersecting networks have been identified: 1. The pioneer agricultural area of the Gerasenians, with fields' parcels and settlements; 2. The nomadic passages; 3. The tracks and forts for military control from the part of the provincial authorities. During the Byzantine period, the politics of sedentarization of the nomads is attested by new villages, isolated farms and cultivated fields, and by farm- monasteries in place of some Roman forts.
