Résumé
The present article is an attempt to confer a semiological status on the concept «symbol». Seven conditions are indispensable : analogy, polysemy, «surplus» of meaning, the conjugated interplay of metaphor and metonymy, the (corporal) work of the signifying substance, the signifying action. Finally, the symbol is studied as the integrating factor of symbolic Systems : narrative and myth, ritual organization ofspace.
