L'après Vatican II et la constitution de la Commission Théologique Internationale

«In a way one can say that the first phase of the after Vatican II is closed». Few are today the « Witnesses» ofthe event but there still exists a « vita posthuma». The anti-council still persists under hard and soft for ms. A heterogeneous évolution sometimes seemed to triumph : the para-council (de Lubac), the meta-council. Other developments are homogeneous and legitimate (the after -council, the Synod, new central bodies such as the International Theological Commission [I.T.C.]). The author is concerned with the history of this I.T.C. créât ed by pope Paul VI in 1969. He tries to give it 's full meaning. The Pope and the Synod wished to institutionalize and perpetuate the help given by experts from ail over the world to the Council Fathers. They wished to structure and coordinate new research, allow peaceful confrontation of tendencies becoming more and more divergent. Infifteen years the I.T.C. did cooperate a great deal with the Secrétariat of State, the Congrégation for the Doctrine of the Fait h, the Commission «Justice and Peace», the Commission on the Family. The I.T.C. also followed in ail freedom the new orientations of an ever speedily developing history. In fïfteen years the I.T.C. may well hâve become the link allowing and making possible the passage from the Council as such to an authentic Post-Council.
