Résumé En

Somewhat fallen into dislike at the time of décolonisation and post-conciliar questioning, missiology as the study ofthe historical conditions ofthe incarnation of christianity in the diversity ofcultural communities, may well contribute in a positif way to today's reflection on the Church. The encounter of religions and civilisation and the germination of christianity in the humus of local cultures appear as a rich and openfield of investigation for the theologian and the historian alike. Among the many possible questions some are grouped round five paths of research : the problems concerning the agents of the mission be it as rear guard or in the fîeld ; space and time in which this mission takes place ; the way s in which the mission perceives itself ; an évaluation of methods ; the expériences of Churches former ly "missionarised" ("missionnées") and the enriching feed-back to the old Churches, confronted with the necessities of a "new evangelisation".
