Résumé
This article tries to give a detailed analysis of the way in which Georges Lemaitre understood the relationship between science (and cosmology in particular) and fait h. This under standing evolved from a simple conciliatory attitude in his youth (1920-23) to an original conception of «the theory of the two paths to the Truth» (1936). The article also attempts to throw new light on Georges Lemaitre' s reaction to Pius XII' s address Un' Ora (1951) and on the inherent limits of the «theory of the two paths».
