In diesem Aufsatz wird eine Uberlegung zum Akt des Wohnens als Manifestation, anhand der Wohnung und der Stadt, der soziokulturellen Verhältnisse und menschlichen Praktiken zu und mit Raum vorgeschlagen. Das Beispiel Rio de Janeiro erlaubt eine stadtische Analyse einerseits der Siedlung als symbolische und architektonische Konzeption, anderseits der Stadt, deren Struktur und der Praktiken des stadtischen Raumes. Die Lekture der Stadtstruktur von Rio anhand der Siedlungskonzeption und der Wohnweisen lâsst ein Rekognoszieren der Rollen der verschiedenen stadtischen Sektoren zu durch die Praktiken der Stadt und der Formen des Wohnens des stadtischen Raums. Die Analyse der stadtischen Praktiken tràgt dazu bei, neue Formen sozialrâumlicher „Division" und ihrer Widerspiegelung in der Stadtstruktur, der Praktiken sowie der Verânderungen des Verhâltnisses zum Stadtischen. Es werden Elemente fiir eine Geographie neuer Formen des Bewohnens einer immer mehr abgeschlossenen Stadt vorgeschlagen, in der zu den ûberkommenen sozialen Abgrenzungen neue Grenzen innerhalb des Stadtraums hinzukommen.

This article considers the act of dwell in -the housing and the city - as a social and cultural manifestation as well as a human spatial practice. In this sense, Rio is taken as an example to realize an urban analysis which is structured upon two pillars : in one side, the dwelling's symbolical and architectural conceptions, and in the other, the its structures and practices of the urban space. Guided by the dwelling's conception and the different ways of living in the lecture of Rio's urban structure make it possible to understand : the papers concerned to the different urban zones through the city's practices and the ways of living in the urban space. The analysis of the urban practices lightens the new ways of social and spatial di-vision, and their reflections through the urban structure ; the living in the city's practices ; as well as the changes occurred within the urban relationships. This article proposes elements to a New Geography to understand the new ways of living in a city more and more compartmentalized where others frontiers in the midst of the urban space come to join the former social divisions.

Cet article propose une réflexion sur l'acte d'habiter -le logement et la ville -en tant que manifestation des relations socio-culturelles et pratiques de l'homme à l'espace. A travers l'exemple de Rio de Janeiro, l'analyse urbaine est structurée sur deux piliers : d'une part, l'habitat, dans sa conception symbolique et architecturale ; d'autre part, la ville, sa structure et les pratiques de l'espace urbain. La lecture de la structure urbaine de Rio, ayant comme fil conducteur la conception de l'habitat et les façons d'habiter, permet de comprendre les rôles attribués aux différents secteurs urbains à travers les pratiques de la ville et les formes d'habiter l'espace urbain. L'analyse des pratiques urbaines vient apporter un éclairage sur les nouvelles formes de "di-vision" socio-spatiale et leurs reflets sur la structure urbaine, les pratiques de l'habitat et de la ville, ainsi que les changements des relations à l'urbain. Il est proposé des éléments d'une géographie des nouvelles façons "d'habiter" une ville de plus en plus cloisonnée, où aux anciennes divisions sociales viennent s'ajouter d'autres frontières au sein de l'espace urbain.
