The year 1860 is an instrumental one in understanding the international relations during the XIX'1' century. Prusia ’s victory over Austria as well as Italy's additional step toward state union, were all very signifiant events hut any general view on the european politics would not he complete without mentioning the significant of the events concerning Romania. These started with the prince ALL Cuza’s ouster from power and ended with the general recognition of the foreign prince Carol of Hohenzollern on Romania’s thrown. Although during the 1866 officially France vacillated in the question of Romanian state union and concerning the question of the foreign prince, Paris did however payed attention and secretly encouraged all the chances and possible solutions favouring the Romanian political interests to confront the other european powers once again with a «fait accompli».
