Coronavirus in Greater Paris : demography and society – A detailed statistical and cartographic analysis of the mortality data domiciled on the 150 administrative units of Greater Paris (7 million inhabitants) during the first semesters of 2018, 2019 and 2020, shows a significant excess mortality in 2020, associated with the Covid-19 epidemic. Although it mainly affects the elderly, it seems to be linked, at least spatially, especially in the poorest department of the Metropolis, Seine-Saint-Denis, to difficult economic and social. The finding should lead to both emergency health measures and long-term urban and political treatment.

Une analyse statistique et cartographique fine sur les données de mortalité domiciliée sur les 150 unités administratives du Grand Paris (7 millions d’habitants) au cours des 1er semestres 2018, 2019 et 2020, fait ressortir une surmortalité importante en 2020, liée à l’épidémie du Covid-19. Si elle atteint principalement les personnes âgées, elle paraît liée, au moins spatialement, notamment dans le département le plus pauvre de la Métropole, la Seine-Saint-Denis, à des conditions et sociales difficiles. La constatation devrait entraîner aussi bien des mesures sanitaires d’urgence qu’un traitement urbain et politique de longue durée.
