Le Hamma ou la commune de Hamma Bouziane est une ancienne huerta. Son territoire constituait autrefois le jardin maraîcher de Constantine et son verger, une fonction altérée depuis qu’on a décidé de reporter l’urbanisation de la métropole sur sa zone limitrophe. Les effets sont pervers, ils corrodent ce qui reste de la vie agraire et attisent les enjeux sur le foncier agricole, d’où l’utilité d’en parler, tout en mettant en exergue les stratégies qui en découlent, et d’où également le fait qu’on assiste actuellement à un regain d’intérêt qui va dans le sens du renouveau de cette ancienne huerta.
