Paul Marius Martin, « César et ses anti-modèles dans le Bellum ciuile », Vita Latina (documents), ID : 10.3406/vita.2020.2029
In the Bellum Ciuile, Caesar has no model nor anti-model, not even Pompey. Unlike him, whose exemplary personality dominates the whole work, he portrays plenty of small and partial anti-models, who end up being nothing but dwarves or hollow shells. Hence what we have is a manner of handbook dealing with two different ways of waging a civil war ¢ the proper (his) and the wrong way (his adversaries’ one ?).
