Résumé En

This paper aims at evaluating up to which point Livy estimates trustworthy his own narrative starting from the regal period and ending with the Roman revolution. Six words have been selected so as to serve as filters whereby the narrator distanciates himself from his narrative, either proving himself most doubtful or, on the contrary, quite certain of the facts. By evaluating how often these words occur in the text, it has been made possible to understand the criteria on which Livy relied to trust or not the various elements on which the traditional account of the most ancient History of Rome were based.
