Gaston Bruneton and the Supervision of the French Workers in Germany (1942-1945). Patrice Arnaud speaks of the importance, more symptomatic than efficient, of a still virtually unknown organization : the Official French Delegation of the Deutsche Arbeitsfront that, under the pretext of social assistance, cultural activities and especially supervision of the French working in Germany, became not only a link in the chain of the collaborationist policy between Vichy and Hitler but also a cog in the Nazi administration. He also describes the itinerary of a stooge, his so pious, well-meaning, and "European" boss, Gaston Bruneton, who never saw in Hitlerism but a social and unitarian utopia.

Patrice Arnaud dit l'importance, plus symptomatique qu'efficace, d'une organisation encore à peu près inconnue : la Délégation officielle française auprès de la Deutsche Arbeitsfront qui, sous prétexte d'assistance sociale, d'animation culturelle et surtout d'encadrement des Français travaillant en Allemagne, devint non seulement un maillon de la politique collaborationniste entre Vichy et Hitler mais aussi un rouage de l'administration nazie. Il décrit également le parcours d'un comparse, son chef si pieux, si bienfaisant et si « européen », Gaston Bruneton, qui ne vit jusqu'au bout dans l'hitlérisme qu'une utopie sociale et unitaire.
