A short chain tale in Korandje about a little cat's plans and ambitions, recorded in Tabelbala from Zorah Assa (Adda?) by Dominique Champault, ca. 1950-1955. Transcribed, glossed, and translated by Lameen Souag in 2014-2022. See https://archives.crem-cnrs.fr/archives/items/CNRSMH_I_2003_009_070_01/ for recording metadata. This tale was widely known in Tabelbala, and versions of it are attested further afield across the range of the Ait Atta. The ending, however, varies according to the teller's taste. In this instance, it seems to represent a naive but sincere effort to underline that man does not live for bread alone.

Un conte sur les ambitions d'un petit chat, raconté en korandjé par Zorah Assa (Adda?) et enregistré par Dominique Champault à l'oasis algérien de Tabelbala entre 1950 et 1955, et transcrit et traduit par Lameen Souag en 2014-2022. Sa fin est très variable ; dans cette version-ci, il voudrait souligner (peut-être naïvement) l'importance de ne pas se limiter à des objectifs matérialistes.
