La mise en récit des cartes d’Espagne de 1940-1944

Le centre de ressources Olympe de Gouges (CROG) de l’université Toulouse 2-Jean Jaurès dispose depuis 2015 d’une collection de cartes héritée de la cartothèque du département Géographie. Si une petite partie est encore utilisée en tant que matériel pédagogique, la très grande majorité est en sommeil. En application de nos recherches sur la médiation des documents cartographiques en sciences de l’information et de la communication, nous proposons ici une mise en récit des cartes conservées au CROG, plus particulièrement d’un lot de cartes topographiques d’Espagne au 1: 50 000e, datées entre 1940 et 1944, en éditions espagnole et allemande. L’objectif est multiple : favoriser la réactivation de leurs valeurs informatives ; les sortir de leur dormance documentaire ; contextualiser leur production et leurs réceptions ; mettre en scène des acteurs qui, pour certains ont légitimé leur fabrication, pour d’autres les ont fabriquées, et pour d’autres encore les ont utilisées ; relier des événements, des pratiques et des usages à ces documents ; valoriser la cartothèque et donner du sens à la collection cartographique au sein du CROG. Après avoir retracé l’histoire de la constitution de la cartothèque et ainsi identifié ce qui peut être à l’origine de cette collection, nous tenterons de contextualiser les usages du lot choisi et de dérouler un discours narratif sur la fabrique des documents le constituant, l’ensemble étant posé comme une rencontre documentaire avec un patrimoine à activer.

Since 2015, the CROG, Olympe de Gouges Resource Center of the University of Toulouse 2 Jean Jaurès has had a collection of maps inherited from the map library of the Geography Department. If a small part is still used as educational material, the vast majority is dormant. In application of our research on the mediation of cartographic documents in Information and Communication Sciences, we propose here a narration of the maps kept at CROG, more particularly of a set of topographic maps of Spain at 1: 50 000th, dated between 1940 and 1944, in Spanish and German editions. The objective is multiple: to promote the reactivation of their informative values, to get them out of their documentary dormancy, to contextualize their production and their receptions, to stage actors who, for some have legitimized their production, for others have manufactured them, and for still others have used them, to link events, practices and uses to these documents, to enhance the map library and to give meaning to the cartographic collection within the CROG. After having retraced the history of the constitution of the map library and thus identified what may be at the origin of this collection, we will try to contextualize the uses of the chosen lot and develop a narrative discourse on the making of the documents constituting it, the whole being posed as a documentary encounter with a patrimony to be activated.
